Play Guitar

The Guitar is one of the most popular instruments to learn.
Mostly I think because you can play so many types of musical styles on it.
Being able to play your favourite song (or write your own if you’re feeling creative!) gives endless pleasure.
That’s how I started, picking out songs by ear (& fingers…yes I know!) just to be able to sing along with my favourite songs (mostly Country, I’ll admit to it up-front!)
And once the basics were mastered I went on to compose music for other peoples words and eventually write a few songs myself.
Its also portable (have you ever tried to take a piano with you to a B-B-Q?!)

Guitars are recognized as one of the primary instruments in blues, country, flamenco, rock music, and many forms of pop. They can also be a solo classical instrument. Guitars may be played acoustically, where the tone is produced by vibration of the strings and modulated by the hollow body, or they may rely on an amplifier that can electronically manipulate tone. Such electric guitars were introduced in the 20th century

Classical Guitar:
Typically strung with nylon strings

Acoustic Guitar:
Not dependent on an external device to be heard but uses a soundboard (a wooden piece mounted on the front of the guitar's body).

Steel-String Guitars:
Similar to the classical guitar, however, the body size is usually larger than a classical guitar and it has a narrower, neck and stronger structural design.
The steel strings produce a brighter tone,
You will often find the acoustic guitar used in folk, country, bluegrass, pop, jazz and blues.

Dobro Guitar:
Usually played face up, on the lap of the seated player, and often with a metal or glass slide.

Electric Guitar:
Can have solid, semi-hollow, or hollow bodies, and produce little sound without amplification. Electromagnetic pickups convert the vibration of the steel strings into electrical signals which are fed to an amplifier through a cable or radio transmitter.
